BOISE, Idaho — The Canyon County community gathered at the center at the Canyon County Fair to honor the lives of Idaho officers who died in the line of duty. The annual memorial event is part of National Police Week.
On Friday, May 17, Canyon County hosted its 12th Annual Canyon County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony. The event began with a police motorcade, which made its way to the event center. During the ceremony, the names of Idaho's 77 fallen officers were read aloud, including Ada County Sheriff's Deputy Tobin Bolter, who died in the line of duty on April 21.
"Members of the community rely on us... when they simply have nowhere else to go," said Canyon County Sheriff's Kieran Donahue.
To support law enforcement year-round, Donahue said the public can thank officers when they get a chance.
"We will not forget that those men and women who have lost their lives... in our communities," Donahue said.
Other events have taken place in the Treasure Valley to honor Idaho's fallen law enforcement officers, one of which took place at the Idaho Peace Officers' Memorial in Meridian.
