IDAHO, USA — The Idaho Democrats are holding a "Statewide Day of Action" over the "library bounty bill" or House Bill 710. A bill many have called overreaching, it goes into effect on July 1 and allows anyone to challenge a book in public and school libraries.
"The library book bounty, passed by Republican politicians, is a direct attack on our freedom to make decisions for ourselves and our families," said Idaho Democratic Party Chair Lauren Necochea. "We are standing up to protect our libraries from the book banners, support our librarians, and ensure that our children have access to a broad range of books that reflect diverse perspectives."
Libraries can get a $250 fine and people that complain can get $250, and possibly get other fees and damages.
The Idaho Dems Day of action is to show support for libraries across the state. It's on July 1 at various libraries. People can click here to learn about the event and find a library.
