BOISE, Idaho — Services for Marine Capt. Benjamin Moulton will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Boise State University's Jordan Ballroom, care of the Potter Funeral Chapel in Emmett. People can watch the services live at this link or below in this story.
Moulton was among the five Miramar-based Marines killed in a helicopter crash in California on Feb. 6 while flying home from Nevada to San Diego.
Moulton graduated from Emmett High School in 2015. He joined the Marines after graduating from the University of Washington, where he was part of ROTC and captain of the boxing team, in 2018.
The U.S. Marine Corps said the five Marines died when their helicopter went missing as a historic storm dumped heavy snow and record rain over California.
All were assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 361, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and were based at Marine Corps Air Station in Miramar, California.
According to Moulton's obituary, his smile "lit up the room," and he had an "unwavering moral compass."
"Ben was a proud Marine until the end. His life was bound to be one of service and accomplishment. Even though Ben spent his life training and preparing for a future he will not get to see, his impact and memory will live on. The effect of his life will be felt deeply by those who knew him and loved him," the obituary stated.
