BOISE, Idaho — A lawsuit between the City of Boise and a Boise Police Officer has been settled, the city announced on Wednesday.

Boise Police Officer, Sgt. Kirk Rush, brought the case seeking damages for alleged misconduct after former Police Chief Ryan Lee allegedly performed a training move on Rush, resulting in injury to Rush in Oct. 2021.

There were lawsuits from both sides, with Rush suing Ryan Lee and the City of Boise. Days after Rush's lawsuit was filed, Lee filed his own lawsuit against Rush and four other people.

As previously reported by KTVB, Boise Mayor Lauren McLean asked Lee to resign last fall after numerous officers filed complaints against him. A spokesperson from Boise Police Department told KTVB that Rush is still with BPD, and has served for 19 years.

A spokesperson for the city, Maria Weeg, announced the settling of the lawsuit in a news release stating both parties, Lee and Rush, participated in court-ordered mediation.

During mediation, Intact, the city's insurance provider in this case, settled the case for $850,000.
