BOISE, Idaho — The City of Boise is currently seeking residents interested in helping their communities by filling positions on multiple boards or commissions.
Board members/commissioners are made up of community members who serve in a volunteer capacity, said the news release. These members are appointed by the mayor and have the consent of city council.
Meetings for these positions are held monthly, with a hybrid format to allow both virtual and in-person attendance, unless otherwise specified.
The open positions for committees and boards are as follows, per the release:
Open Space and Clean Water Advisory Committee
This position will work in part with the framework of Boise City's management plans, including the Interagency Foothills Management Plan, Boise Open Space Reserve and Ridge to Rivers Master Plan, etc. to achieve the goals of the Open Space and Clean Water initiative, said the release.
Historic Preservation Commission
This commission's purpose is to promote, preserve and protect the historic buildings, structure, sites, monuments, and more which serve Boise's heritage.
Arts & History Commission
Working in collaboration with city staff to review and approve Arts & History polices, goals and programs, said the release. This commission helps support Boise's art and culture and recommends support to Mayor and City Council.
Planning and Zoning Commission
This commission will take on a broad array of issues, such as making decisions about land use, planning future growth and responding to the challenges of the moment.
Parks and Recreation Commission
The Boise Parks and Recreation Commission reviews things pertaining to planning, development, improvement, beautification and maintenance of public parks, playgrounds, and other recreation facilities and open spaces.
Public Works Commission
This commission provides recommendations on polices and direction to the Public Works department, said the news release.
Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas Board
The Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas Board will hear appeals of decisions which pertains to plumbing, mechanical or fuel gas systems. Meetings are held annually or as needed in a hybrid format. Per the news release, this position must be filled by a licensed mechanical contractor.

Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee
The Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee is a committee made up of residents to create and provide recommendations associated with impact fees to the mayor and Boise City Council.
Parks and Recreation Commission
The Boise Parks and Recreation Commission reviews things pertaining to planning, development, improvement, beautification and maintenance of public parks, playgrounds, and other recreation facilities and open spaces.
Public Works Commission
Public Works Commission will work with the City of Boise, providing guidance and feedback across the entire breadth of duties, including engineering, water renewal operations, environmental planning services, facilities management and utilities administration, said the news release.
Arts & History Commission
Working in collaboration with city staff to review and approve Arts & History polices, goals and programs, said the release. This commission helps support Boise's art and culture and recommends support to Mayor and City Council.
The following Committee position does not need to be filled by a Boise resident, but anyone residing in the area of impact., said the release:
Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee
The Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee is a committee made up of Boise residents and area of impact residents to create and provide recommendations associated with impact fees to the Mayor and Boise City Council.
