Nampa to open new splash pad, outdoor gym at Midway Park

The ribbon-cutting celebration for the park's new splash pad, outdoor fitness gym and other amenities is at 4 p.m. on May 22.

BOISE, Idaho — The City of Nampa and Nampa Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a ribbon cutting on May 22 to celebrate a new splash pad, among other activities, at Midway Park.

New park amenities will include a splash pad, outdoor fitness gym, parking and a multipurpose sports court. The splash pad is functional for the summer, but will close seasonally. The splash pad will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., depending on daylight hours.

"We look forward to opening the new water feature, fitness area, sports court and additional green space.  As we expand parks and recreation opportunities throughout the city, adults and children have more opportunities to move and stay active, which helps the City of Nampa progress toward our goal of a healthier community," Nampa Parks and Recreation Department Director Darrin Johnson said.

The ribbon-cutting celebration finalizes the second stage of a four-stage plan for Midway Park. After starting in 2016, Midway Park offered four baseball/softball fields, a playground, walking loop, restrooms and parking.

The third phase, which will begin this summer, will include construction of four more baseball/softball fields, an expanded walking loop and more restroom facilities. The fourth stage will come in future years, completing the park with two more baseball fields with 90-foot bases.
