Colonel Gardiner appointed as ISP Director

Since 2017, Colonel Kedrick Wills has led the Idaho State Police. On Wednesday, as he entered retirement, Colonel Bill Gardiner accepted the director position.

BOISE, Idaho — Colonel Kedrick Wills stepped down after 29 years of service with the Idaho State Police at a Change of Command Ceremony in Meridian on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Colonel Wills served the past seven years as Director of ISP. As he entered retirement on Aug. 12, he expressed his interest in serving Idaho in various ways moving forward, he told KTVB.

“I’m not done working, so I’m not sure what it looks like, the future, going forward for me as far as work goes, but I’m excited to continue to have my hand in keeping Idaho in what it is now and keeping it a great state”, said Colonel Kedrick Wills.

The torch has been passed to Colonel Bill Gardiner, the newly appointed Director of Idaho State Police.

Colonel Bill Gardiner has served in various sectors of ISP throughout the state of Idaho.

He is prepared to take on responsibilities and challenges the Director role holds, Colonel Gardiner told KTVB Wednesday.

“Governor little has been very specific on where our priorities lie. Not only in public safety which is always important but specifically in the battle against fentanyl and human trafficking. Those two things are areas where we’re going to continue to force our efforts. We’re going to continue to put our resources in those areas and really try to make a difference,” Colonel Gardiner said.

Governor Little was also in attendance at the ceremony and presented a speech of support for the Change of Command.

More officials, family members, and Idaho residents filled the audience of the ceremony, looking forward to the future of Idaho State Police.
