BOISE, Idaho — Construction is underway on a new roundabout in Nampa at the intersection of Midland Boulevard and Iowa Avenue.
The three-phase project kicked off on Monday. The City of Nampa is breaking down the construction into phases to minimize road disruptions for drivers. It is anticipated that the project will be complete by mid-August, the city said in a news release.
The first phase involves the east side of the intersection being closed for through traffic while crews work. Northbound and southbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane in each direction, and the west side will be open.
The second phase will close the west side of the intersection, while northbound and southbound traffic will be down to a single lane in each direction. The east side will be open during the second phase of the project.
All legs of the intersection will be open during the third phase, but with flaggers. The City of Nampa said traffic will be routed to the outside lanes of the roundabout while crews finalize the splitter islands.
Some features of the roundabout will include enhanced pedestrian crossings, street lights and storm-water facilities.
Residential access will be available throughout the project in the impacted area.
