BOISE -- A woman whose body was discovered in a remote area of the Boise Foothills in February had been shot multiple times in the head, the Ada County Coroner's Office announced Thursday.

The death of 43-year-old Ronie Parrott has been ruled a homicide.

But more than a year after she disappeared, no one has been arrested or charged with taking her life.

Parrott's body was discovered by a woman walking her dogs near Hulls Gulch Loop off of Sunset Peak Road Feb. 13. Authorities say the remains had been in that remote area of the foothills since late August.

It's unclear whether the victim was shot at that location, or if her remains were dumped in the foothills after she was killed.

Boise Police had asked for the public's help in locating Parrott, who had gone missing almost six months prior. The woman was last seen buying soda at a Maverik store at 27th and Main streets in Boise just after 11 p.m. Aug. 25.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office said after Parrott's remains were discovered that investigators had several "significant leads" in the case and had identified a person who was with Parrott in the days leading up to her death. Authorities also said they did not believe the Boise resident was targeted at random.

Detectives have conducted dozens of interviews and have "a strong working theory" about who is responsible for her death, but no warrants have been issued. Results of forensic testing are pending.

Parrott's daughter, Teela Vaudrin, described her mother as an outgoing, generous woman who made friends easily.

"There was nobody that she called a stranger," Vaudrin told KTVB at a February candlelight vigil. "If somebody needed help, she was always thinking about them before herself."

Parrot was a fixture in the local music scene, Vaudrin said. A concert in her honor raised money for her funeral.

The homicide remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact authorities.
