Coroner identifies man who died in bicycle crash

BOISE, Idaho — The Ada County Coroner has identified the man who died after crashing his bicycle on Feb. 19. Robert Maynard, a 70-year-old man from Boise died after "swerving out of the way to avoid a collision on his bicycle," the coroner stated.

Police said there was no evidence that Maynard was hit by a car and that he was riding west on E Mortimer Drive. A car was driving on Shenandoah Drive, that police said had the right of way. Maynard was taken to the hospital but died from his injuries. 

Maynard's cause of death was "vertebral fractures with spinal cord injury."

No charges are pending and the Boise Police Department is investigating.
