BOISE, Idaho — Competitive gaming has grown in popularity over the years. Now, College of Southern Idaho (CSI) is starting a e-sports team to join in on the fun.
The club's inaugural event is happening Friday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. in the Student Union Building in Twin Falls. There will be a Super Smash Bros tournament, where players and visitors both will get the chance to connect.
"E-sports is about to level up our campus! It's a game-changer, offering a new avenue for student engagement, particularly for those who may not have found their niche in traditional school activities. We're excited to see this program create memories for everyone involved," CSI Student Body Vice President Jesus Berumen said.
The club's goal is to foster an inclusive community, helping students who are passionate about competitive gaming.
The club, known as the Golden Gaming Club, is led by coach David Palmer, who is experienced in e-sports coaching.
"I'm incredibly excited to see this club come together. The passion and talent these students possess is inspiring," Coach David Palmer said. "The future of e-sports at CSI is bright, and this is just the beginning of something that will only get bigger with time."
