'Donut Ever Forget Me' exhibit coming to Boise Art Museum

Jae Yong Kim spent nearly a decade creating his unique exhibit.

BOISE, Idaho — An exhibit opening soon at the Boise Art Museum might make you a bit hungry, especially if you have a sweet tooth.

The exhibit called "Donut Ever Forget Me" opens January 26.

It's an installation by Jae Yong Kim, an artist from South Korea.

Starting after the financial meltdown of 2008, he spent nearly a decade creating hundreds of hand-sculpted and intricately-painted ceramic donuts.

Kim says he considered quitting his teaching job at Montclair State University in New Jersey and opening a donut shop.

He ended up combining his love of donuts with his passion for making art.

"Donut is the things that I love, and the things that is not healthy for me, and I still eat donuts here and there, but I try not to eat too much, like two dozen at a time," said Kim.

Each donut in Kim's installation took several days to complete.

There are ten different shapes -- including hearts, teddy bears, Mickey Mouse ears, and horns from the "devil" emoji.

The exhibit opens next Saturday and runs through July 7.
