EAGLE, Idaho — We are going to see all kinds of weather this week, including some rain. Here in the Treasure Valley, many of the dirt trails don't handle the water very well making it difficult for bikers to ride them, but the City of Eagle added a new style of bike trail that can handle whatever mother nature brings.
"Concrete Jungle" is the name of the new all-weather bike trail that was added to the Ada/Eagle Sports Complex in Eagle and the city held a ribbon cutting Tuesday to unveil this new trail.
Lots of kids showed up to try out the new trail which was made with 400,000 pounds of repurposed concrete from old buildings and projects around Eagle.
This trail has been in the works for about three years and the City of Eagle says they hope this new style trail will attract riders of all skill levels.
"Most of our Treasure Valley doesn't have any rocks. So, even our smoother portions of this trail might be a challenge for current riders,” said Rob Hollerman, the trails manager for the City of Eagle. “A lot of our features are designed to replicate natural terrain. We have rock gardens and more advanced features that you might be able to find in Fruita, Colorado or Moab, Utah."
The trail is a quarter mile long and consists of advanced beginner and lower intermediate features, with an additional 200 feet of intermediate and 300 feet of technical options.
Hollerman said the trail is easy to get to and you can get to it from the top of the water tower.
Hollerman also said that even though the trail is made of concrete, it's safe in case you wipe out since the path is surrounded by soft dirt. Even with that, make sure to always ride with a helmet and pads.
