BOISE -- An eclectic eatery in Boise's Linen District will close its doors next week.

After six years, Donnie Mac's Trailer Park Cuisine at 1515 W. Grove St. in Boise, today announced the restaurant's final day of business will be Wednesday, Oct. 26.

It is with great sadness that we have decided to close the doors, said Donnie Mac's Owner Jim Finch in a statement. I want to thank everyone who gave us their business these past few years. I hope we brought a smile to your face. Donnie Mac's certainly was one of a kind.

Linen District founder and developer David Hale said the building will be taken over by a new food business, but those details will be announced at a later date.

Donnie Mac's, which opened in 2005, showcased a Southwest-inspired menu, kitschy roadside-Americana decor and eclectic staff.

In 2009, Guy Fieri visited Donnie Mac's for a nationally-televised segment on his Food Network show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.

Finch, who now lives in Colorado, said there are no current plans to reopen Donnie Mac's in another location. The restaurant's founder, Don MacKenzie, recently moved out of state to pursue other interests.

Finch said in recent years, it has become increasingly challenging to manage the Boise restaurant from his home in Colorado, and it required more time and attention than he could give.
