Event guide: Latino Conservation week in Idaho
For the third year, local organizations and businesses will be hosting free, family-friendly events.
Latino Conservation Week kicks off Saturday, Sept. 23, with many family-friendly outdoor events. Many local organizations and businesses are hosting organized hikes and other nature-based activities.
Many of the events require RSVP or registration to ensure comfort for those who participate.
Saturday, 14th Bird watching and event kick off
The celebration of activities begins with a bird watching walk, hosted at the WaterShed with Golden Eagle Audubon . Be sure to bring your best running shoes, as the path runs over 1.5 miles.
It will start at 9:00 a.m. and goes on until 11:00 a.m. registration is required.
Another kickoff event will be hosted later in the afternoon, at the MK Nature Center and the Armstrong Municipal Park in Boise.
The event begins at the MK Nature Center at 1:15 p.m. with the opportunity to explore the Nature Center, until 2:00 p.m.
However, at 2:30 p.m. the event will follow up at the Kristin Armstrong Park, activities organization booths will be available. The event will end with a guided tree walk at 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, 15th Planting and parks
Day two of Latino Conservation Week starts off with planting native species at Marianne Williams Park with MoreTracks. It starts at 10:00 a.m. and goes on until 12:00 p.m. Gloves are encouraged, as you'll be digging in to get those plants to grow.
Registration is required for this free event as space is limited.
"Pelotas, y Paletas," at Mariposa Park with Peques Nature Club, kicks off the second event of the day from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Monday, 16th Meet a beekeeper
Don't bee shy! Meet a beekeeper at the Garden City Pollinator Garden with Peques Nature Club. The event runs from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The informative event will discuss the importance of bees and will be followed with a honey tasting. All ages are encouraged to participate.

.Tuesday, 17th History and conservation
If you find yourself too busy to drive to any conservation events, Dr. Eulalia Gallegos Buitron will be hosing a zoom informative on the the history of Mexican immigrants and their contribution to the Pacific Northwest.
It starts at 12 p.m. and goes on until 12:50 p.m.

Wednesday, 18th Hiking with Latinos
A late-night hike never hurt anyone. Join Latinos Explorando for a hike at Table Rock on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
The hike will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. Meet up location is at the Table Rock Trailhead.
Trail shoes or hiking boots are encouraged for the 3.5 moderately challenging hike.
Thursday, 19th Conservation and Karaoke
For those 21 and over, join Calle for a night of social gathering and karaoke for the community to connect and talk about conservation in Idaho.
The fiesta will start at 6:30 p.m. and go on until 9 p.m.
Friday, 20th Hiking and bird watching
Vitalistic Wellness Community will be hosting a Community Community Clean-Up Hike at Jump Creek Falls.
The idea stormed to owner Javier Del Hoyo when he and his partner went on a walk and saw garbage filling up the trail. "There was a lot of cans, and there was even, like a pizza box on top of a tree, which was really sad to see. So this is where we decided, You know what we when Latino conservation week came up, we were like, this is perfect," stated Del Hoya.
The clean-up event is fully booked.
However, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the Idaho Sierra Club is hosting a bird-watching walk at the Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge. The walk will be guided in both English and Spanish.
Running shoes, water, sun protection and sunglasses are encouraged for this walk that may go up to two miles.
RSVP is required.
Saturday, 21st Celebration of Conservation
As the week full of events comes to an end, the closing party will be hosted by Super Nutrition at the Hispanic Community Center.
It begins at 9:00 a.m. and goes on until 11:00 a.m. Come ready to dance and meet leaders with the community.
Sunday, 22nd Trail Riding in Boise
The last event will be hosted by Peques Nature Club, and will be demonstrating Trail Riding in the Boise Foothills.
Kids need to bring their own bikes and must be able to use a pedal bike.
