IDAHO, USA — KTVB is launching an exciting new initiative, partnering the station with local middle and high schools to provide a platform for Idaho’s talented young community members to share their stories.
The primary goal is to empower students by giving them a voice, an opportunity and platform to spotlight the issues and events that matter most to them. This program aligns with our mission to support, engage, and positively impact all the communities we serve.
Through KTVB Student News, students will have the chance to explore the dynamic world of multimedia journalism. Under the guidance of industry professionals, they will gain hands-on experience in capturing, editing, and publishing original content.
We're inviting students to submit their work showcasing local stories or events. Select stories will be featured on Fridays during the News at Four and the Saturday Morning News broadcasts. All submissions will be showcased on our website, KTVB.COM, and across our social media platforms.
The stories should be of general interest to a broad audience. They should be evergreen, meaning they are not particularly time sensitive. The stories should be fair, balanced, and present both sides of an issue. They should also address the key questions of who, what, why, when, where, and how. The segments should be one to two minutes long.
While Student News is a new initiative for KTVB, it is modeled after a long-running and highly successful program at our sister station FOX61 in Hartford, Connecticut. Here is a link to their website: https://www.fox61.com/student-news.
For submissions:
End the package with the reporter saying their name, what school they are from and then, "for KTVB Student News."
Include the proper spelling of the reporter’s name and anyone interviewed, plus their title.
Send HD video (resolution of 1920X1080 pixels) as an mp4.
Upload video and fill out submission form by clicking here.
Include a 100-250- word web story (written in AP style with quotes and attribution as well as links to companies, schools or programs if relevant).
We are excited to bring this opportunity to our local students and communities. If your school is interested in getting involved, please email us at studentnews@ktvb.com.
