BOISE, Idaho — The family of Milo Warnock, an inmate who was killed while in prison, wanted answers as to why he died. Now, they are pursuing legal action against the state.
As previously reported by KTVB, Idaho State Police (ISP) are investigating the death of Warnock. He died in December 2023 after being assigned to high-security, "close-custody" - where he was in a cell 23 hours a day, with a cellmate.
The family of Warnock is planning to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the state. The claim, which was filed on Friday, said the State of Idaho, the Idaho Department of Correction, its leaders and Centurion - the company responsible for inmate healthcare - acted "negligently and deliberately indifferent in preventing Warnock's death."
The family is asking for more than $463,000 in damages.
The investigation into his death was forwarded to the Ada County Prosecutor's Office, which will decide whether to press charges against the suspect.
