ONTARIO, Ore. — Meridian man, Joseph Pesola, was transported to a Boise area hospital after sustaining burns from a large fire in Ontario on Thursday, Nov. 2 around 4:30 p.m.
According to a press release, Ontario Police and Fire, alongside other public safety officials, responded to the report of a fire at Love's Travel Center. Malheur County received multiple calls of the incident, and responded quickly. The 61-year-old Pesola was the only reported injury due to the fire. Pesola was transported from the area to a Boise hospital.
The fire originated from a commercial truck that was located in a vacant lot just east of the Love's Travel Center in Ontario. The area where the fire started is used as a mobile station for the transfer of liquid natural gas, stated the press release.
Public safety officials evacuated the surrounding area, and no additional injuries were reported.
Ontario Fire is investigating the cause of the fire, and will release more information as it becomes available.
