BOISE -- Fire crews have reached containment on a wildfire burning north of Boise, the Idaho Department of Lands announced Tuesday.
The Mile Marker 21 Fire and Highway 21 Fire burned about 700 acres before it was fully contained Monday night. Firefighters are still working to mop up remaining hot spots, and a helicopter will continue performing water drops as needed.
The fire began at about 4 p.m. Sunday near Robie Creek Road, prompting the closure of Highway 21 as crews battled the flames. Highway 21 is open now, but drivers are still urged to use caution in the area as fire vehicles get on and off the highway.
No structures were threatened by the fire, and no residents needed to evacuate. The cause remains under investigation.
