BOISE - Investigators say a grass fire that blackened 30 acres in the foothills early this morning is believed to be caused by humans. The Boise Fire Department hasn't given an exact cause, but did tweet out a picture of a collection of trash that appears to have been burnt.
Firefighters responded just after 4:40 am Tuesday and quickly worked to attack the fire off of Mountain Cove Road.
Boise Fire was able to contain the fire in just over an hour before it could spread along the foothills.
Eagle firefighters assisted in the fight by bringing in a bulldozer, which quickly laid down a fire line, preventing the blaze from spreading.
Captain Tom Moore with the Boise Fire Department said that weather cooperated with firefighters and allowed crews to engage the fire on steep terrain.
"There was only a light breeze that didn't really play into the fire spread too much our fire crews. Our brush rigs were able to operate off road to make a quick attack on it, they got the fire knocked down relatively quick," said Moore.
Firefighters also credit the time of day for being helpful during the fight, fires tend to burn faster during the day time.
