BOISE, Idaho — The Fraud and Senior Financial Exploitation and Prevention Roadshow will be in Boise, on Monday to help senior citizens understand scams. You can register for the event here.

The goal of the roadshow is to provide education to Idaho's seniors and vulnerable adults, so they can protect themselves from scams. The Idaho Department of Finance (IDOF) and partners will provide information on how to best protect against financial crimes that target seniors through a series of expert-led presentations that are open to the public.

IDOF partnered with AARP Idaho and the Idaho Commission on Aging - Adult Protective Services to bring this information to people across the state. They will share information and resources to help Idahoans prevent, identify, and report financial crimes. A meet and greet will follow each presentation.

"Ensuring Idahoans have the information, tools, and resources to protect themselves and their loved ones from becoming victims of fraud and senior financial exploitation is very important to the IDOF and to me personally," said Patricia Perkins, director of the Idaho Department of Finance in a news release.

She continued and said, "We are excited to interact with Idahoans around the state to equip them with the knowledge and skills to defend themselves against these activities."

John Yaros, Securities Bureau Chief of the Idaho Department of Finance, said, "The IDOF Securities Bureau and our partners are looking forward to providing critical information at the Roadshow events that will better protect our seniors, while also encouraging potential victims to report fraud and exploitation."

For those in the Treasure Valley, the free event will be hosted at the Riverside Hotel in Boise on Oct. 30 from 3 to 5 p.m

The next roadshow event following Boise will be hosted in Ketchum at The Community Library on Nov. 3 from 3 to 5 p.m.
