MERIDIAN -- There's an exciting new bus route for the city of Meridian. And this bus service is all about having fun!
The route connects the community to several popular destinations in Meridian.
The shuttle will run Saturdays only. In fact, it's being dubbed "The Meridian Saturday Fun Bus."
The free bus service will make stops at more than 20 locations -- and run a two-way route to popular destinations around Meridian -- including Settlers Park, Roaring Springs/Wahooz, Kleiner Park/The Village and downtown Meridian.
So you can spend the morning at Settlers or Kleiner Park, then hop on the shuttle for an afternoon of fun at Roaring Springs, then head over to The Village for dinner -- all without moving your car.
"You're saving on gas and it's an interesting and exciting and cool way to get to know the city," said Kelli Fairless, Executive Director of Valley Regional Transit.
"We hope that our citizens, our families come and discover the Saturday route that connects our parks, our shopping areas, our dining and our entertainment venues together for a fun day of Saturday fun," said Meridian Mayor Tammy de Weerd.
The mayor says kicking off the Saturday service is part of the city's plan to achieve a more robust public transportation system for Meridian.
The free Saturday shuttle runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Click on the link for a map of the route and stop times.
