GARDEN CITY, Idaho — According to Garden City Police (GCP), a man named Tyler Tidwell, who had a warrant from the Idaho Department of Correction, has been arrested.
"Tyler Tidwell has a long history of felony crimes and should have been serving his sentence as an inmate with the Idaho Department of Correction. Had he not been released prior to his sentence satisfaction date of December 14th, 2027, this incident would not have happened.," said Garden City Chief Stambaugh.
Tidwell had a warrant for a handful of charges, including: felony eluding, three counts of battery on law enforcement, misdemeanor resisting and obstructing, felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor driving without privileges and felony absconding parole.
GCP said that on Thursday, July 11, at roughly 10 p.m., Garden City and Boise Police located Tidwell at a home on the 3900 block of Adams Street in Garden City.
According to police, Tidwell left the house, and attempted to drive away. As he was leaving, Tidwell hit a parked car and then purposefully hit a police car.
Tidwell then pretended to surrender, police said, and tried to run. A Garden City police K9 was released, and police were able to arrest him.
Tidwell was briefly treated at a hospital before being booked into the Ada County Jail.
Stambaugh said he would like to thank Boise Police Department for their assistance in taking Tidwell into custody.
