The average gas price in Boise came in at $3.60 per gallon, which is 26 cents less than it was one month ago and 53 cents per gallon less than a year ago. Of the 216 gas stations in Boise, surveyed by GasBuddy, the cheapest station in Boise was priced at $3.39 per gallon. The most expensive was $4.09 per gallon, reflecting a 70-cent difference.

Additionally, the national average of both unleaded and diesel gasoline has fallen. Diesel gasoline calculated to be $4.23 per gallon on Monday. Meanwhile, the national average for unleaded is sitting at $3.21 per gallon, per GasBuddy.

"With the national average price of gasoline declining for the 10th straight week, motorists are enjoying the longest downward trend at the pump since the summer of 2022," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "The timing couldn't be better as Americans head into the holidays, leaving them with more in their wallets at a time of year many start to spend on gifts for loved ones."

"In addition, gasoline demand continues to be dragged lower as Americans stay inside more often, helping to put continued downward pressure on gasoline prices," De Haan continued. "However, we're carefully monitoring OPEC's delayed meeting, set to occur this week, for potential surprises that could eventually mean an end to lower gas prices should they make any surprise oil production cuts."

According to AAA Idaho, the Gem State ranks 7th in the U.S. for most expensive fuel. Idaho ranks behind California, Hawaii, Washington, Nevada, Oregon and Alaska.

While Idaho prices have been falling since Sept. 7 -- when gas was $4.16 per gallon -- the speed of which prices have dropped accelerated post mid-October, according to AAA Idaho. However, the prices in the panhandle are keeping the state average a little higher than it otherwise might be.

"Last week, most of us had the opportunity to sample a beloved Thanksgiving recipe. In this case, steady gasoline production, falling fuel demand, and lower crude oil costs are the main ingredients in the savings we're currently seeing at the pump," AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde said.

"A combination of cheaper crude and slumping demand could push oil and gas prices down even further in the run-up to the end-of-year holiday season."
