Cracking good time: Geode cracking at Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology on Sunday

BOISE, Idaho — Join the Idaho Museum of Mining and Geology this Sunday, June 23 for a geode cracking event, announced a press release

As described in the news release, a geode is "a rock with a surprise inside!"

This event kicks off at 10 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m. It includes the geode cracking, as well as a short hillside hike and museum visitation. 

It will take place under shade canopies on the grass of the Women's Ward Courtyard on at the Old Idaho Penitentiary in Boise. 

There will be a 35 minute hike, with incline, scheduled at 11 a.m. and again at 12 p.m.

Admission is free to adult museum members and their children. Non-member adults will be $4 at the door, and children are $4 and receive a small geode. 

Those adults who want to participate in the cracking will need to pay the recommended donation at the site.
