BOISE, Idaho — Boise-based nonprofit Giraffe Laugh Early Learning Centers recently received a $10,000 grant from the KFC Foundation to support its teachers and children in the Treasure Valley.
The organization, which currently serves about 170 kids, plans to open two new centers this year. Giraffe Laugh is one of 100 nonprofits across the nation the KFC Foundation is supporting in 2024 for a wish-list project.
The manager of the Meridian KFC and A&W restaurant, Allison Abdel-Monem, nominated Giraffe Laugh for the grant after a volunteer introduced her to the nonprofit and its vision. Organizations are invited to apply for a project grant through Kentucky Fried Wishes, one of the KFC Foundation's community-giving programs.
According to its website, Giraffe Laugh Early Learning Centers provides "quality early care and education to young children by ensuring school readiness, empowering families, and building strong futures."
The organization's executive director, Lori Fascilla, said the $10,000 grant will give teachers access to training and support, ensuring an effective experience and skills for success for teachers and children.
Fascilla also said Giraffe Laugh is "doubling our impact in the community" by opening two new centers. The nonprofit broke ground on a new child care facility near the Boise Bench in October 2023.
“As the KFC Foundation celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, we are thrilled to grant 100 Kentucky Fried Wishes totaling one million dollars this year,” said Emma Horn, executive director of the foundation. "We’re proud to support these non-profits in furthering their missions and grateful for all they do to make a difference in their communities.”
