Gov. Butch Otter holds final Capital for a Day in Star

This was Gov. Otter's 108th Capital for a Day.

Gov. Butch Otter held his 108th and final 'Capital for a Day' in Star, Idaho on Thursday.

“Being in my hometown for the last one is great,” Gov. Otter said.

City leaders and the community brought up questions and concerns at Thursday’s event. About 30 people were there, along with state department leaders, first lady Lori Otter and Governor-elect Brad Little. They addressed several topics, including growth, the Highway 16 bridge, area roads and construction.

Over the last 12 years, the Otter administration has brought state government to 96 small towns in Idaho. “Out of all the 44 counties, I’ve been to all counties at least twice and 30 counties, three times,” Otter said.

The governor's first 'Capital for a Day' was held on January 20, 2007, in Bonners Ferry. He says his favorite part of the program was keeping in touch with the people.

“I’m leaving the state in good hands, I’ve got every confidence in the next administration, Brad Little and his administration that are coming in. Brad’s been at my side for 10 years so, I feel good about it, I feel comfortable with it and I’m optimistic,” Otter said.

As of Thursday, Gov. Otter had 18 days left in office.
