BOISE, Idaho — The Boise Farmers Market will close early on Saturday, July 13, as the Treasure Valley and southern Idaho is experiencing triple-digit numbers.
According to organizers, the move was made after recent 100-degree weather and an excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service. To ensure the public's safety, organizers set the new limited hours to 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. this weekend.
"Closing the Market early is rare, and only done after careful consideration of all factors. The safety of our vendors and shoppers is paramount," said Amber Beierle, Boise Farmers Market Executive Director.
The market will also have shaded cooling stations with misters for eventgoers.
Organizers said the early closure will also help preserve the freshness of the food, as "some available products do not do well in the heat."
