BOISE, Idaho — Bogus Basin is ready for outdoor enthusiasts – with opening day Nov. 23, just before Thanksgiving. The non-profit is unveiling two new chairlifts this season – both designed for beginner skiers to get some more reps in.
The Coach Chair and the Bitterroot chairs are the two lifts that are new and improved – and both are now double the length as they were last season. The improvements are designed to keep Bogus an accessible, fun and affordable place for families and loved ones to enjoy the outdoors of the Treasure Valley.
“That’s been the thread that has built Bogus Basin,” said Jamie Zolber, director of Skier Services. “Community and family and enjoying the mountain experience.”
In addition to the new lifts, Bogus is laying out new terrain, $67,000 worth of new rental equipment and non-slip flooring on the third floor of Simplot Lodge.
Zolber said they have been preparing for opening day since closing day last season, and are expecting skiers and snowboarders from across the Treasure Valley to come enjoy their ten lifts altogether.
For opening day, Zolber said just the new Coach Chair and the terrain park will be open. Depending on conditions, the whole mountain could be open as early as the following weekend.
Bogus received 20 inches of fresh snow in the last week, on top of man-made snow – Zolber said it’s shaking up to be a solid opening day.
“We serve the Treasure Valley and surrounding communities, so people can come up and enjoy the mountains and have a great time,” Zolber said.
