BOISE, Idaho — For nearly nine decades, Idahoans have been chewing on cherries at the Emmett Cherry Festivals. While the festival started on Wednesday, there is still time to grab a cup full of sweet or sour cherries.
The Emmett Cherry Festival is the oldest running festival in the state and is always held on the second week of June, according to the Gem County Chamber of Commerce. The festival brings 'family-friendly' events, live music, and a carnival to Emmett City Park.
A Gem County Chamber of Commerce official told KTVB that the festival relies on harvest, but this year's heat helped ripen them up, and it's a "great year."
According to the Emmett Cherry Festival Website, at the festival, there is no charge to enter the park, and there is no charge to enjoy the concerts that are held during the day and night. For those eager to hit the carnival all day, a wristband will cost $35.
Unfortunately for 'man's best friend,' they will not allow dogs into the park during the festival.
The last day to attend the cherry festival is Saturday, June 15.
