COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Drivers in Coeur d’Alene need to know about roadwork starting in the region on Monday. Exit 15 on eastbound Interstate 90 will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Thursday.
The Idaho Department of Transportation is closing the eastbound off-ramp to remove hazardous trees. A spokesperson for the department said removing the trees will reduce the risk of them falling during a windstorm onto traffic or surrounding utilities and buildings. They added that taking out the trees will also mean less pine needles and debris that could build up and clog the drainage system.
Idaho Department of Transportation will set up detours for travelers. Drivers can access downtown Coeur d’Alene by getting off at exit 14 then taking 15th Street south to Sherman Avenue.
The next available off-ramp for drivers is exit 17 at Mullan Train Road, two miles to the east.
Crews are expected to perform similar work in the coming weeks on the exit 14 off-ramp on eastbound Interstate 90.
