BOISE, Idaho — Idaho's gas prices continue their downward trend, however, the steadily increasing cost of crude oil is slowing down the drop, according to information from AAA.
AAA said the average price for a gallon of gas in Idaho dropped five cents, and it now sits at $3.94. It is 20 cents less than a month ago and 42 cents less than last year.
"Montana and Utah, where most of our refined gasoline comes from, both have cheaper state averages than we do. With any luck, a slump in local fuel demand will help bring down our pump prices even faster," said Matthew Conde, AAA Idaho public affairs director. "Unfortunately, the cost of crude oil is all over the place, returning to the $90 mark late last week. If crude remains unstable, the savings on fill-ups may be slow in coming."
According to AAA, the national average is $3.55 for a gallon of gas.
Idaho ranks eighth for the most expensive gas in the nation.
