Update: Highway 55 reopens after Thursday grass fire forces closure

Eagle Fire Department said at 7:47 p.m., Highway 55 reopened after hours of being closed from a grass fire.

BOISE, Idaho — The Eagle Fire Department reported at 7:47 p.m., Highway 55 has fully reopened after a grass fire two miles north of Avimor forced officials to close both lanes of traffic.

Eagle Fire said drivers should use the highway cautiously as firefighter patrols will remain overnight.

Eagle Fire's Chief told KTVB at 4:30 p.m., the fire was about two acres and was contained.

Eagle Fire said that at 4:00 p.m., the highway was closed around North McLeod Way, but access to Avimor remained open. 

Thursday's grass fire comes one day after another fire, which was caused by a burning vehicle that closed the highway for hours. Eagle Fire said that fire burned roughly 1,500 acres.
