CALDWELL, Idaho — The Idaho Humane Society on Tuesday announced a partnership with Best Friends Animal Society to assist the West Valley Humane Society.
According to the Idaho Humane Society (IHS), the partnership will take an active role in daily operations at the West Valley Humane Society (WVHS) in an effort to "[enhance] public access to adoptions, redemptions, and other essential animal welfare programs."
"We take pride in our long-standing partnership with West Valley and look forward to working closely with their dedicated staff, volunteers, and community members," Idaho Humane Society CEO Dr. Jeff Rosenthal said. "Together, we will help the Canyon County nonprofit evolve into a stronger shelter with expanded community access."
Before the agreement, IHS said it increased the number of pets transferred from WVHS to help ease the pressure on WVHS during its facility construction and ensure animals continued to receive necessary care.
The West Valley Humane Society will be making policy changes in the upcoming months to bring improvements to its animals' welfare, according to Tuesday's news release.
"Collaboration and partnerships are the key to providing the best possible services to our community and their pets," said Caleb Smith, board president of WVHS. "This partnership marks another great step forward for West Valley Humane Society, we are incredibly appreciative of Idaho Humane Society and all of our partners who have supported the organization and our mission."
