Idaho man gets probation in cancer fundraising fraud
Michael Holley

TWIN FALLS -- An Idaho man has been sentenced to four years of supervised probation for helping with a fraudulent fundraiser in which he and his wife claimed their daughter had cancer.

The Times-News reports District Judge Randy Stoker sentenced 54-year-old Michael Wayne Holley on Monday. Holley entered an Alford plea to grand theft by deception in July.

Under an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit guilt but acknowledges prosecutors have enough evidence to gain a conviction.

Lisa Holley entered an Alford plea to two counts of grand theft, one for the car wash and one of faking being pregnant with triplets and taking more than $1,400 in money and gifts from members of a Buhl church. Her sentencing is set for Oct. 21.
