A Boise County man who went missing near Robie Creek has been found deceased.

James Sumpter, 54, had been missing since July 24 and was found on Aug. 10, according to an Idaho Mountain Search & Rescue Unit Facebook post. Sumpter was found in "an area of thick, spiny vegetation" in a "highly obscured location that made him very difficult to locate," the Facebook post says.

The rescue team spent three days searching for Sumpter after receiving a formal request from the Boise County Sheriff's Office. The search spanned a large area in south Boise County.

The Facebook post says the rescue team used "evidence-based statistical tools" to guide much of the operation.

"As always we thank Sheriff (Scott) Turner and the BCSO for the opportunity to assist the subject's family and the Boise County community in bringing this tragic event to closure," the post says.
