For the fourth straight year, the College of Idaho will head to the NAIA tournament.

After losing both games in the Cascade Conference tournament last weekend, the Yotes softball team earned an at-large bid to the NAIA tournament, it was announced Tuesday afternoon. They’ll travel to Fayette, Missouri, for their regional, hosted by the top seed in the region, Central Methodist (48-4).

As the No. 3 seed in the double-elimination bracket, the College of Idaho (32-17) will play No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan (40-13) in their first tournament game May 13. The other matchup is No. 4 Mid-America Christian (Okla.) vs. No. 5 Dickinson State (N.D.). The winner of that game will face Central Methodist on May 14. The entire bracket will be played through May 16.

The College of Idaho was ranked 15th in the final NAIA poll May 1. Central Methodist checked in at No. 3 and Indiana Wesleyan was No. 16.

In the Cascade Conference postseason awards, sophomore infielder Lolo Walker was named the Newcomer of the Year. She led the conference in batting average (.491), on-base percentage (.623), slugging percentage (1.027), home runs (16) and walks (38). She was named first team all-conference with outfielder Hattie Hruza.

Kaylee MacDannald and Lexi Navarette were second-team all-conference selections.

Should the Yotes advance, the NAIA Softball World Series takes place May 23-29 in Columbus, Georgia. They appeared in the World Series in 2021 and came up one game short of the final stage last season.
