With Christmas in the rear-view mirror and 2023 in its final days, here are some ways to ring in the new year in the Treasure Valley.
BOISE
Idaho Potato Drop
For its 11th year, the Idaho Potato Drop will take center stage in downtown Boise, following entertainment throughout Sunday evening. Beginning at 6 p.m., Cecil D. Andrus Park will host live performances, food trucks and sporting events.
The potato drop will take place in front of the Idaho State Capitol building with free general admission. Additional entertainment and amenities are available with VIP tickets for $150.
NYE Block Party
Sunday night, one wristband will allow access to four bars in downtown Boise. StrangeLove, Amsterdam Lounge, Dirty Little Roddy's and Karma will be partnering for a downtown block party. Bars will offer a power hour with special drink prices from 7-8 p.m. Attendees are advised to dress to impress, with limo services and table reservations available to schedule ahead. Pre-purchased wristbands are $25.
Rabbit Rager!
With a wonderland twist, the Lounge at the End of the Universe’s New Year’s rager features electro-swing and a champagne toast. Activities throughout the night include a costume contest for the best rabbit costumes. Entry starts at $35.
Black & White Party
Downtown’s Hap Hap Lounge will be ringing in the new year in style on the roof of Treefort Music Hall. Doors open at 8 p.m. for a night of DJs, specialty cocktails and champagne for a midnight toast. Tickets start at $30 with limited availability.
Torchlight Parade and Fireworks Show
Bogus Basin will halt lift operations Monday evening from 5-7:30 p.m. to celebrate the new year. The torchlight parade begins at 6:15 p.m., will be followed by fireworks and is open to the public. Free hot chocolate and cookies will be provided, courtesy of Albertsons.
Hygge New Year
Mad Swede Brew Hall’s Nordic celebration is based on the concept of Hygge – a quality of coziness and conviviality. Located downtown, the hall will be open throughout Sunday evening for a game night with warm beverages, comfort food and pajamas.
Dave & Buster's New Year's Celebration
Sunday, the family-friendly arcade will hold a New Year’s celebration from 4-7 p.m. The special admissions will include buffet food, unlimited games and a New Year’s Eve toast with ginger ale. Tickets for the event are $53.10.
MERIDIAN
Countdown to Noon
An early celebration for young families, the Children's Museum of Idaho’s event will run Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Activities, treats and a balloon drop at noon will allow kids to make it home for an afternoon nap. Entry costs $5 for museum members and $10 for non-members.
Let's GLOW Crazy!
Rolling into the new year, Big Al’s arcade and bowling is offering lane rentals with added fun. Families can enjoy unlimited galaxy bowling, arcade games and a midnight balloon drop, all under neon lights. Lane reservations are required, starting at $250 per lane with up to six party members.
NAMPA
New Year's Eve Lock-In for Kids
The Harward Rec Center will host a night for kids 6 through 12 years old from Sunday, 7 p.m. to Monday, 8 a.m. Kids will play games, watch movies, swim and have a pizza party. Supervisors will watch the group all night. Registration costs $27 for members and $32.50 for non-members.
CALDWELL
Party with The Saloonatics
Indian Creek Steakhouse will be hosting a local band, The Saloonatics, to dance the night away. The band features a mix of rock and country covers and will play from 9 p.m. to midnight.
Idaho Wrestle Club Elbow Drop
The Ustick Church of the Nazarene will be celebrating New Year’s Eve in an unconventional way. Live pro-wrestling will take center stage Sunday at 6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 15 and under.
GARDEN CITY
Silent Disco
With an early countdown, Barbarian Brewing’s disco is syncing its clock with the East Coast, celebrating the new year at 10 p.m. Mountain Time. The venue will be open from 7-11 p.m. with a champagne toast at 10 p.m. Tickets are $20, providing headphones with access to three different stations.
