BOISE, Idaho — A Boise woman will be traveling to the Big Apple for New Year's Eve for the opportunity to win $1M.
The Idaho lottery said Lora-Lee Casady is one of five nationwide contestants who won the First Millionaire of the Year. She will travel to New York City and participate in a live-covered event by Powerball, which will announce the first New Year millionaire.
According to the Idaho Lottery, Casady beat out 69,846 Idahoans who entered to win the contest. To enter the contest, players could enter the 10-digit code on any non-winning Powerball ticket. As a finalist, she won a VIP trip for two to New York, with travel expenses paid for and VIP access to Times Square on New Year's Eve.
"I've only ever been to New York City once before, for work, a long time ago," Casady said in a news release. " Of course, I'd love to win the million dollars, but I've always loved New York. I am just happy to go back and be a part of the vibe of the city."
The other four contestants are from Georgia, New York, North Carolina and Rhode Island, the Idaho Lottery said.
The winner will be announced Sunday, Dec. 31 at 9 p.m. (MT) during the "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024."
