BOISE, Idaho — Idaho State Police on Tuesday hosted a birthday celebration inside the Idaho State Capitol in Boise to commemorate 85 years of service.
The public event on the second floor Rotunda featured a ceremony with a proclamation signing and to recognize the men and women who have served Idaho State Police in the past and present. ISP also showed what its personnel does to protect the community.
"Over 700 talented professionals serve with distinction, and I am confident that they are some of the best Idaho offers," ISP Director Colonel Kedrick Wills said. "ISP stands on the successes of giants who came before us, and we continually strive for excellence and to leave a legacy for those who follow."
The celebration of 85 years of service also gave agency leaders an opportunity to reflect on achievements since Idaho State Police was created in 1919, and look ahead to the future of the Gem State.
"Idaho is a great place to live, it's a safe place to live overall, and we'd like to think that the state police is part of the reason it is that way," Lt. Colonel Sheldon Kelley said.
Idaho State Police work to assist motorists, enforce traffic safety, investigate crimes, support other local law enforcement and more. For additional information on ISP's 85th birthday, click here.
