BOISE, Idaho — Idaho State Police (ISP) responded to a call on Tuesday morning of a suspicious person at a gas station in Mountain Home. The man was at the gas station for an hour before the call came in, according to ISP.
As police arrived at the gas station, the man drove off and a high-speed chase started. Police said the man was driving over 100 mph during the chase.
The suspect then went the wrong direction, entering into the exit for a weigh station, which is closed for construction.
Despite this, the suspect took went into the construction zone, landing the vehicle in a massive hole in the ground. Police noted, the suspect did slow down before entering the hole, and was not traveling at such high speeds.
The man has yet to be named by ISP, however they stated that he has multiple warrants from Ada County. KTVB will provide updates to this story as we learn more.
The man received minor injuries from the crash and was taken to the hospital to be checked out. He had a dog with him in the vehicle as well. The dog is reported to be healthy and in animal control custody.
