BOISE, Idaho — A K9 officer with Idaho State Police has been found after the agency reported he went missing in Meridian Thursday afternoon.

The black lab named Murphy "scampered away from home," prompting ISP to ask for the public's help in finding the pup. He was last seen around 3 p.m. in the neighborhoods near Chateau Park and Tully Park, but police reported Murphy was fortunately found in a social media update Thursday evening.

"All paws were on deck tonight in safely bringing Murphy back home! Thank you to our community for your quick help and commitment to public safety," Idaho State Police said.

In the original community assistance announcement, the K9 was described as friendly and energetic, with an ISP collar. The public was asked to call ISP or 911. Now, the good boy is back to serving the public!
