CASSIA COUNTY, Idaho — An Idaho State Police trooper was responding to a call to help a driver when he hit and killed a woman in the roadway Wednesday night on State Highway 81.
ISP on Friday said the crash happened near milepost 4 in Cassia County at roughly 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The 41-year-old woman from Malta died at the scene.
"The trooper immediately stopped and administered CPR until Malta EMS arrived and assumed emergency medical treatment for the female," Idaho State Police said in a news release.
The Critical Incident Task Force (CITF) is investigating, led by the Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office. The woman has not yet been identified by the Cassia County Sheriff's Office.
ISP has not released any further information. The roadway was closed for nearly six hours as crews cleaned up the accident.
