Exclusive: "The Curse of Oak Island" Rick and Marty Lagina on Season 12

Season 12 of History's Curse of Oak Island is streaming now

Season 12 of History's Curse of Oak Island is bigger than ever, with the Laginas and their right hand man Craig Tester bringing in more experts and cutting-edge technology as the testing ramps up and becomes more refined and targeted.

Scientists will analyze the new shafts and the Money Pit cores this new season. According to brothers Rick and Marty Lagina of History's The Curse of Oak Island, fans of the ongoing historically rich treasure hunt in Canada's maritime Oak Island should prepare themselves for exciting, significant finds. The Canadian government has noticed the quality of the artifacts discovered. Marty Lagina said, "They have definitely renewed attention on that island for many reasons. Part of the reason they're gratifying is that the archeological community used to write us off as 'nothing really happened there,' but they aren't anymore. Several places on the island have become official historical places. Yes, they are in our business now, but they've been very good to work with. Rick would agree, the government of Nova Scotia and the people in Nova Scotia have been great.'

In the epic 12th season, these Michigan-born brothers have honed a genuinely talented team, and together, they are closer than ever to solving the 229-year-old treasure mystery. Their technology now pinpoints evidence of a significant source of deeply buried structures and precious metals within the Money Pit area. Their core-drilling operation has fine-tuned the hunt for precious metals and valuables already discovered during large-scale excavations.

The team promises exciting new discoveries, and more information on the storied treasure mystery awaits viewers. New secrets will be revealed, corroborating Lagina's suspicion that Oak Island was visited numerous times by medieval European cultures, the Vikings and the Portuguese Knights Templar, and may contain multiple artifacts and undiscovered treasures.

In the premiere, Rick Lagina gives a hell of a pep talk to his team, reinvigorating everyone into unearthing the island's mysteries.

He said, "On so many levels, the team—we see Oak Island as one thing. We're all invested in this, and it's not hard to marshal up some emotion regarding it because everyone has such a different perspective, but everyone's perspective rallies to one thing: trying to solve this incredible mystery. It's not hard to give everybody a bit of a boost because you get their affirmation immediately, just simply by looking into their faces. Everyone is committed to this, invested in it, and believes in it to two greater or lesser degrees, mind you. Marty always says he has a fact-based approach, and I have a more emotionally grounded approach, but it works well together. We could have put everyone in that position of giving a speech, and I think all of them would've rounded to the same thing."

Without a doubt, the incredible history of the island, the people who invested in it, from John Wayne and Errol Flynn to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, to all the fascinating theories and critical discoveries made—priceless religious relics connected to the Knights Templar. a haul of silver from a sunken Spanish galleon spoils from a colonial-era military victory in the Caribbean; the Laginas attempt to fill in the blanks of history from the finds they uncover with the world's top experts.

Mysteries will be explored, and secrets will be revealed by those who have studied, explored, and lived through one of the longest-running treasure hunts known to man.
