Fun cocktail potions for your Halloween party tonight!

A certified mixologist shows us how to make them

Mixologist H. Ehrmann from Fresh Victor is brewing up some cocktail potions for a scary good time. Here are his recipes:

Pumpkin Glow

Alcoholic Non-alcoholic / Original Recipe / Difficulty: Easy / Autumn

To make one glass: 2oz Fresh Victor Three Citrus & Mint Leaf 1.5oz bourbon (preferably 86-101 proof) or other aged spirit (Anjeo tequila, aged rum, VS or VSOP cognac, etc) 1oz pumpkin puree .5oz Liquid Alchemist Apple Spice Syrup Garnish 1: lemon, lime, and/or orange half wheels, fanned Ice: cubed or crushed Glass: 10-12oz Double Old Fashioned (or a pumpkin-themed glass) Shaker Method In a cocktail shaker, add all ingredients, fill the shaker with ice, shake well (to chill and dilute) and strain over ice in a 10-12oz glass. Add garnish and serve.

Build Method: In a glass full of ice, add all ingredients, plus 1 ounce of water (for dilution), stir gently, garnish and serve Non-Alcoholic Version / Mocktail Substitute a non-alcoholic bourbon replacement like Spiritless Kentucky 74, Ritual, or Free Spirits and increase the quantity to 2oz To make a punch batch: 16oz Fresh Victor Three Citrus & Mint Leaf 20oz bourbon (preferably 86-101 proof) or other aged spirit (Anjeo tequila, aged rum, VS or VSOP cognac, etc) 8oz pumpkin puree 4oz Liquid Alchemist Apple Spice Syrup Place all ingredients in a punch bowl and mix well with a wire whisk. Add ice and stir gently; garnish with the citrus half wheels and serve. Yields 8 servings.

Mixologist’s Notes: This seasonal twist on a Bourbon Smash, adds pumpkin and apple spice taking the bright, minty, citrusy summer drink into Fall. The orange color is reminiscent of the International Orange of the Golden Gate bridge, often described as an orange vermillion color.

A Scary Good Drink

Non-alcoholic / Original Recipe / Difficulty: Easy / Fall Winter

To make one glass: 2oz Fresh Victor Cactus Pear & Pomegranate 3oz The Pathfinder 6 dashes El Guapo Fuego bitters Garnish: fresh or dehydrated lime wheel, rested flat on a big ice cube Special Halloween Garnish: using honey as “glue”, put a dab of honey on the back of candy eyeballs (cake decorations) and stick on dehydrated lime wheels to create a face; rest the “face” on top of a large ice cube Ice: Large cube Glass: Double Old Fashioned / Bucket

Build Method: In a glass with a large cube in it (or full of ice), add all ingredients, stir gently, garnish and serve To make a batch: 16oz Fresh Victor Cactus Pear and Pomegranate (1x 16oz bottle) 16oz The Pathfinder 1oz El Guapo Fuego Bitters Add all ingredients to a large pitcher (64oz) and stir well. Pour over ice, stir, garnish and serve.

Mixologist’s Notes: This autumnal sipper has great fruit sweetness and botanical bitter balance with a touch of pepper heat on the finish to leave a warming sensation that calls for another sip.

The Ultimate Holiday Mimosa or Punch

Alcoholic, Non-alcoholic, or Low ABV / Original Recipe / Difficulty: Easy / Fall and Winter Holidays

To make one glass: 2oz Fresh Victor Mexican Lime & Agave 4oz La Marca Prosecco .5oz Hipstirs Cranberry Pie Syrup Fall Holiday Garnish: thin slice from an apple wedge (w a cinnamon dusted tip) Winter Garnish: a fresh rosemary sprig Ice: None Glass: flute, wine glass or collins glass

Build Method: In the tall, narrow glass of your choice, add the syrup, Fresh Victor and La Marca in that order (adding the prosecco last will “stir” all of the ingredients). Slap the rosemary a few times to release some oils in the leaves and place it in the drink or over the rim of the glass Non-Alcoholic Version / Mocktail Use a non-alcoholic sparkling wine or dry sparkling cider Punch Bowl or Pitcher Batch 1x 16oz bottle of Fresh Victor 1x 750ml bottle of wine 4oz syrup For Mimosa service, add all to a 64 oz pitcher, mix gently, pour into glasses, garnish For Punch service, add all ingredients to a punch bowl, add ice, stir gently, and garnish the bowl.

Mixologist’s Notes: Floral and lime notes bring brightness while agave sweetness balances tart cranberry, and rosemary brings an herbal complexity, all with crisp bubbles. This drink brings the holiday cheer in spades. Also, this 1:2:.25 ratio (or formula of 2oz Fresh Victor, 4oz sparkling wine, .5oz complimenting flavor syrup) works with all Fresh Victor flavors, making for fun mixology experiments. Brut wines work best to keep sweetness down. See how it scales up for high volume service in the Batch Recipe above.
