366th Fighter Wing undergoes change of command at Mountain Home Air Force Base

Col. Richard Goodman returns to Idaho to become the wing commander.

MOUNTAIN HOME AIR FORCE BASE, Idaho — The 366th Fighter Wing held a change of command ceremony Tuesday morning at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Col. Joseph Kunkel relinquished command of the wing to Col. Richard Goodman.

Goodman served as the vice commander at the 332nd Air Expeditionary Wing in Southwest Asia before his assignment in Idaho.

He's also flown more than 3,500 hours as a command pilot.

Col. Goodman says he is excited to return to Idaho to lead the gunfighters.

"What they do matters, they matter, and their families matter. So I need to them to show up to work, roll up their sleeves and get after it. But then go home and take care of themselves and take care of their family and I am going to do the same thing," said Goodman.

This will be the second time that Goodman has been stationed at Mountain Home Air Force Base.

He served as director of operations in 2013 and as a fighter squadron commander in 2014.

Kunkel is headed to Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado where he will become the J-3 vice director of operations on the joint staff.
