HEYBURN -- One man was killed Monday morning when a semi truck veered through a guardrail and over the edge of an overpass near Heyburn.

The crash happened at about 6:30 a.m. on Interstate 84, near milepost 211.

According to Idaho State Police, the semi was driving west when it went off the roadway, striking the guardrail, and breaking through. The truck fell onto the road below, hitting a 1997 GMC pickup on Idaho 24.

The driver of the semi died at the scene, according to police. His name has not yet been released.

The pickup's driver, 63-year-old Gregory Grove of Albion, was not seriously injured.

It's not clear whether either driver was wearing a seatbelt, police say.

Highway 24 was blocked for about two hours. The wreck remains under investigation.
