Man found dead after falling into Coeur d'Alene river

Shoshone County Sheriff's Office found the missing person on Saturday.

SHOSHONE COUNTY, Idaho — The man authorities believe fatally slipped and fell into the Coeur d'Alene Ricer on Friday has been identified.

According to the Shoshone County Sheriff's Office (SCSO), Tom Wise was found on Saturday afternoon after he was reported missing on Thursday night. 

"Tom was a beloved husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa," his family wrote online. "He is truly loved and will greatly be missed!"

SCSO said the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Coeur d'Alene Fire, Silver Valley Search and Rescue, and Shoshone Fire all helped deputies in the search.

A GoFundMe has been created to help support Wise's family.
