BOISE, Idaho — One lucky lottery player has turned a trip to a Kootenai County retail location into $445,000 in winnings, extending north Idaho's streak of success.
The Idaho Lottery on Wednesday announced a winning 5 Star Draw ticket was sold in the county ahead of Tuesday night's draw. The winning 5 Star Draw ticket matched all five numbers and is worth nearly $500,00.
5 Star Draw is a lottery game sold only in the Gem State. The winning numbers for the draw were 14, 20, 27, 38 and 42.
The unclaimed $445,000 winner comes after a $2 million Powerball ticket was sold in Bonner County in May. The Idaho Lottery said the prize Powerball ticket was sold at Arnie's Payless Gas on Highway 20 in Kootenai.
Jackpots for the 5 Star Draw start at $250,000 and grow with each draw until they are won. Lottery officials said each play costs $5 and the game has draws on Tuesday and Friday at 8 p.m. MT each week.
"Idaho, especially north Idaho, continues to be a lucky place for players to win big prizes," Idaho Lottery Director Jeff Anderson said. "We are encouraging everyone who played 5 Star Draw for last night’s draw to check their tickets carefully for winners."
Tuesday night's 5 Star Draw winner must claim their prize from Idaho Lottery headquarters in Boise within 180 days. Players are encouraged to sign winning tickets prior to presenting them for payment.
