An autopsy revealed that the cause of death of a University of Idaho dean was drowning.

OROFINO, Idaho – An autopsy revealed that the cause of death of a University of Idaho dean was drowning.

Clearwater County Sheriff's Office officials said Paul Joyce left the High Country Inn near Ahsahka around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, April 22. He was heading to the Best Western in Orofino to spend the night.

Officials said Joyce was not familiar with the area and was given directions on how to get to Orofino.

When he reached the intersection of Old Ahsahka Grade and View Point Rd, he turned left instead of right. He ended up traveling toward the Big Eddy Marina and boat ramp, which is located on Dworshak Reservoir.

According to officials, the car entered the water by going down the boat ramp.

The submerged car was first seen by a fisherman at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, but no one called the sheriff’s office until 5:20 p.m. that day.
